And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnny Best!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Best gets the takedown into side control.
Kennedy is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Best's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Best is trying to work for a kimura but Kennedy is defending well.
Kennedy is refusing to be controlled, as Best sits in half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Best in particular looking to stall.

Best is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kennedy doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Best.

Kennedy is staying active underneath Best, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Johnny Best was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Best isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kennedy stacks Best on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kennedy!

Best is working to avoid the ground and pound but Kennedy connects with a decent elbow.

Kennedy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Best decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Best wants to work for an arm triangle but Kennedy is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Kennedy wants to control but Best is keeping busy.

Best looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Well, if Best is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Best's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Best working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kennedy wants to improve his position but Best is controlling well.

Best drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Kennedy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kennedy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Best wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kennedy wants to pass the guard but Best is defending well.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Trevor Kennedy.
I think Best has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
