Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Diego Godin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 16 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dileno Carneiro! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Saam Ante and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carneiro shoots in and gets a takedown into Godin's guard. Godin keeping moving, preventing Carneiro from controlling successfully. Carneiro drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Carneiro jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Godin lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Carneiro! Godin raining down hammerfists from mount. Carneiro wants to hold on but Godin pushes him away. Carneiro working to try and regain half guard.
Godin lands a big shot there that rocks Carneiro but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Godin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Carneiro regains half guard. Godin is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Carneiro has managed to free his arm - good work. Godin keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Carneiro is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Godin pulls his head out easily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Godin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Carneiro tries to get back to half guard but can't. Carneiro struggling a bit here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Godin in side control lands a decent elbow. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Godin lands a nice forearm strike. Godin advances nicely into full mount. Godin looking to finish Carneiro with some ground and pound. This is bad for Carneiro! Carneiro is in a horrible position here. Godin smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Godin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Carneiro taking shots to the head. This has been an exciting period of action! Godin with the ground and pound from mount.
Carneiro is rocked! Godin wants to finish this one by submission but Carneiro is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Godin. Godin controlling from mount. Godin working for a guillotine from mount but Carneiro is in no mood to give up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Godin is landing with some decent strikes but Carneiro is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Godin with the ground and pound from mount. Godin cracks Carneiro with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Carneiro is still in real trouble! Can Godin finish him? Carneiro is desperately trying to improve his position but Godin has a good base and remains in mount. Godin unloading with bombs! Godin cracks Carneiro with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
