Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Emile Padilla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matt Hughes has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Emile Padilla's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Emile Padilla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Padilla closes the distance and clinches up with Hughes, looking for a takedown. Padilla pushes Hughes against the cage but Hughes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hughes tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Padilla fails with a takedown attempt.
Matt Hughes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Padilla gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Padilla changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hughes fights it off and pushes away nicely.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hughes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hughes wants it to stay on the feet.

Hughes will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Padilla up against the cage.

Hughes is taking a breather. Padilla says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hughes is defended easily by Padilla.

Hughes is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Padilla is aware though and is defending well.

Padilla wants to get up but he can't break Hughes's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Matt Hughes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Well Hughes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
