PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Farid Ismail (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benoit Bizimana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bizimana has chosen Fela Soul as his entrance music. Benoit Bizimana told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Farid Ismail!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Benoit Bizimana!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and Michael Johnstone.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bizimana throws a series of punches but Ismail moves out of range.
Ismail tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Bizimana keeps the fight on the outside.
Bizimana throws a leg kick but Ismail sees it coming and moves out of range.
Ismail darts in trying to clinch
and Bizimana counters with a straight right hand.
Ismail wants to clinch
and Bizimana counters with a nice body shot.
Bizimana's coach down at Clean and Green was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Bizimana's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Ismail thumps Bizimana with a low kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ismail wants to clinch but Bizimana slips to the side
and Bizimana counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Bizimana throws out a loose jab but Ismail uses good head movement to avoid it.
Farid Ismail seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ismail wants to clinch.
Ismail tries to clinch there but Bizimana circles away.
Bizimana cracks Ismail with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Ismail tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Bizimana pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Ismail is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Benoit Bizimana!
A relieved looking Benoit Bizimana thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
In defeat, Farid Ismail stepped up to the mic, saying 'I come backa strong'.
