Hess lands a head kick!
Makunouchi tries for a takedown but Hess circles away easily
and Hess counters with a big head kick but Makunouchi shrugs it off.
Makunouchi shoots and misses
and Hess counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hess.
Hess has clasped his hands together around Makunouchi's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hess has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Makunouchi is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Hess yanks on the arm and Makunouchi is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Hess.
