PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Qing Fu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Copeland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fu comes to the cage accompanied by Last ride of the day. Copeland is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: November Rain. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Qing Fu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Adam Copeland!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Paul Gruel and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Copeland darts in and clinches Fu up against the cage.
Copeland jumps guard but Fu turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Copeland is trying to pull guard but Fu turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Copeland breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Fu gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Copeland to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Fu trying to keep a closed guard but Copeland is proving a slippery customer.
Copeland pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Fu is keeping the position for now.

Fu throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Fu looking to hit a scissor sweep but Copeland is one step ahead there.
Copeland trying to control the position from guard on top but Fu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Copeland has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Fu is proving hard to escape from.
Copeland trying to control but Fu is working from the bottom.
Fu has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
We've been hearing good reports from Fu's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Copeland trying to control but Fu is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Adam Copeland wasn't active enough on the ground.
Copeland ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
No joy there for Copeland, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Fu misses with a straight right.
Fu bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Copeland's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fu pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Copeland back to the cage. Fu follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


It looks like Adam Copeland has been cut.
Copeland looks to land a right hand but Fu moved out of range.
Copeland closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Copeland defending well as Fu loads up on a big left hand.
A big left from Fu misses.
Copeland avoids the head kick by Fu.
Fu throws a hook but Copeland avoids it easily.
Fu throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Fu throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Copeland.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Fu, right into the meat.
Copeland dives in and grabs Fu's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fu pushes down on Copeland's head and hops out.
Qing Fu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adam Copeland.
Copeland tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fu sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Copeland somewhat.
Copeland looks winded!
Copeland fails with the takedown.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Copeland on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Fu scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Copeland's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Fu connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Copeland scrambles back to his feet.
Fu lands a two punch combo.


Copeland is rocked!
Fu getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Copeland is still on wobbly legs! Can Fu finish him?
Fu cracks Copeland with a hook to the temple - Copeland is on wobbly legs here! Fu swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Copeland falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Fu wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Qing Fu!
A relieved looking Qing Fu thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
