PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mac Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson has chosen Hustlin as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Mac Johnson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mac Johnson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shawn Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jackson.
Jackson shoots for a takedown but Johnson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Johnson jabs Jackson to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Jackson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mac Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shawn Jackson.
Jackson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to avoid it but Jackson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Johnson to the ground. Johnson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

My spies in 11th Planet Fitness ($350/wk) inform me that Jackson has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Jackson's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Johnson connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Jackson scrambles back to his feet.

Jackson uses his free foot to push down on Johnson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Johnson.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Jackson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Johnson is wriggling around trying to escape.
Jackson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
