Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Doug Lake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Zion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lake comes to the cage accompanied by My life be like oo-ah. Zion is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Lars Frederiksen & The Bastards - 1%. Doug Lake has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Doug Lake! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Zion! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Franklyn Lucas and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lake throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Zion looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Zion avoids the head kick by Lake.
Lake will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lake feints and then cracks Zion's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Zion down. A head kick lands from Lake that sends Zion to the canvas. Zion tries to scramble back to his feet but Lake brings him back down into side control.
Zion is rocked!
It looks like Bob Zion has been cut. Zion defending against the ground and pound. Lake in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Zion is still in real trouble! Can Lake finish him? The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Lake trying to control the action but Zion is working from the bottom. Zion seems to have recovered his senses. Lake working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Lake lands a few punches from side control. Lake controlling the position from side mount. Lake tries to move to mount but Zion blocks the move with his legs. Zion is looking to reverse the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lake creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Lake throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Lake is looking to take a break and control but Zion is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Lake working the head with strikes. Lake working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Lake wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zion keeps working. Lake misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Lake working the ground and pound. Lake lands an elbow. Zion on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Lake lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Zion down.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lake looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Zion takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Lake tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Lake working the strikes but Zion uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Zion is pressing down on Lake's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Lake passes into half guard. Lake is looking for a kimura but Zion is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Lake to get the leverage. Zion has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lake is working away from the top position though. Lake lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lake scoring with strikes to the body and head. Zion wants to control but Lake is keeping busy.
Lake wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zion keeps working. Lake thows a huge punch but Zion dodges it nicely.
Lake looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Zion with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Lake lands with a nice body kick. Zion shoots in for a takedown but Lake shows good takedown defense. Lake swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Lake throws a head kick that misses. Lake tries a head kick but it misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Lake throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Lake really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Lake throws a front kick aimed at Zion's knee but Zion avoids it well. A punch lands to the side of Zion 's head but he takes it in his stride. Zion bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Lake lands a two punch combo.
Zion rushes Lake and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. A nice right hand lands inside from Lake. Lake lands an elbow inside. Lake manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Lake lands an elbow that stopped Zion in his tracks for a moment. Zion tries to pull guard but Lake holds him up against the cage and eventually Zion drops back down to his feet.
Lake lands a nice knee to the body. Lake lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Doug Lake dominated that round. The cut man is working on Bob Zion's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Zion tries to clinch but Lake is having none of it. Zion misses with a two punch combination.

Lake throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Zion stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Lake follows into mount! Lake landing strikes, looking to finish! Lake unloading with bombs! Lake working away from the top, dropping strikes. Zion is squirming around, avoiding Lake's attempts to control the action. Lake breaks from Zion's wrist control and lands an elbow. Lake trying to control but he's not successful this time. Zion is in all sorts of trouble here.
The referee warns Zion that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Zion is wriggling around trying to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lake wants to control the pace but Zion is squirming around nicely. Zion is looking to improve his position but Lake isn't that keen on the idea. Lake tries to control but Zion wriggling away. Lake putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Lake dominating with strikes here. Lake scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Lake landing shots from mount. Lake is landing with some decent strikes but Zion is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Lake has control of Zion's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Zion regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Lake cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Zion is working to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Zion takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Zion keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Lake lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Zion hang on? Lake wants to finish this one by submission but Zion is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Lake. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Zion can do anything to dispel that myth. Lake working for a guillotine from mount but Zion is in no mood to give up. Lake misses with a head shot. Zion wants to hold on but Lake pushes him away. Lake lands a big shot there that rocks Zion but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lake putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Lake landing shots from mount. Zion is looking to get to half guard. Lake working the ground and pound effectively.

Lake throws a leg kick which misses Zion's front leg but catches the back leg as Zion tries to avoid it. A nice leg kick lands there from Lake. Lake connects with a high kick. Zion takes a kick to the side of the head.
That has opened up Bob Zion's cut even more. Lake throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Lake lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Zion backs up against the cage.
Lake lands a nice shot that snaps Zion's head back.
Zion doesn't manage to clinch there - Lake circles away.
Zion is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Lake throws a shot from downtown. Zion moves away and avoids it. Lake sizes up Zion with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Zion keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Lake. Zion tries to clinch up. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Zion changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lake tries to avoid it but Zion manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lake to the ground. Lake escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Lake lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Zion fails with an attempt to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zion throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Lake misses with a body shot.
Lake tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Lake with a nice cross. Lake throws a head kick but Zion moves out of range.
Doug Lake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Zion showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Lake.
Zion shoots in and bounces Lake off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Lake looking for a sweep. Not yet Lake, not yet. Zion postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Lake working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Zion. Lake keeping moving, preventing Zion from controlling successfully. Lake trying to strike off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lake is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Lake tries to strike from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Zion takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Lake misses with a combination
and Zion counters with a single leg into guard. Lake didn't expect that. Zion content to stall in guard here. Zion throws a big right hand that misses. Zion wants to control from the top but Lake keeps moving. Lake had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Zion is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Lake Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Zion's back instead. Doug Lake overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lake working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Zion is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Lake gets his way!

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Lake struggling to land strikes to the head as Zion covers up. Lake is landing with strikes from the back. Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Lake.
