Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kantemir Gaunov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rocky Rambo!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rambo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gaunov manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gaunov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rambo's waist but Rambo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gaunov off to one side.
Gaunov takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Gaunov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rambo circles away.
Gaunov shoots in for a takedown but Rambo shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kantemir Gaunov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rambo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Gaunov counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Rambo!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Rambo is trying to get back to half guard.
Gaunov is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rambo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rambo tries to improve position but can't.
Gaunov tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Rambo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gaunov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gaunov tries for a kimura but Rambo is defending well.
Gaunov swings around for an armbar but Rambo sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Gaunov's guard.
Gaunov is looking to cinch up a triangle. Rambo throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Gaunov's body to avoid the submission. Gaunov has instead reached around Rambo's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Gaunov arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Kantemir Gaunov!
