Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Norris Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zach Backer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Norris Green!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Zach Backer!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Taro Takaoka and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Backer darts in and clinches Green up against the cage.
Backer stalling against the cage.
Backer fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Backer softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.


It looks like Norris Green has been cut.

Green pulls guard.
Backer throws a big elbow that misses.
Green might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Green preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Backer slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Backer decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Green, up you get!

Green is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Backer tries to pull guard but Green forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Norris Green has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zach Backer.

Backer has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Green uses from the top position.
Green has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Backer throws a lazy right hand but Green sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Backer shoots in but no luck this time.
Green throws a right hand that Backer ducks under and follows up with a left that Backer also avoids with ease.
Sloppy strikes from Backer. Those never looked like landing.

Backer darts in and clinches Green up against the cage.
Backer stalls.
Backer goes for a takedown in the clinch but Green prevents it.

Green pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Green drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Backer. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Green slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Backer wants to control the position but Green says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Backer regains full guard. Nicely done.
Green postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Backer wants to improve his position but instead Green has moved into half guard.
Backer is holding on to half guard well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Backer wants to improve his position but Green is controlling well.
Zach Backer has got the better of the ground game so far.
Backer has his hands clasped together around Green's back. He's all about the action.
Backer is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Green scores with a couple of nice shots.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Backer shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
A punch combination from Green misses.

Green clinches.

Green drags the fight down to the ground.

Backer avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Backer wants to control from the top but Green keeps moving.

Green has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Backer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Green is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Backer defends well.
Backer is pushing down on Green's leg trying to pass to half guard. Green is fighting to maintain full guard but Backer has managed to sneak the leg through.

Backer postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Green to stand up.

Backer forces Green back against the cage and clinches.

Green jumps guard.
Green keeping moving, preventing Backer from controlling successfully.
Backer throws an elbow that misses. Green uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Backer's guard. Nice move by Green!

Zach Backer has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Backer closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Green tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Backer just stands there and leans against the cage.
Green tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Backer smiles and moves away.
Horrible takedown by Backer or perhaps it was just good defense by Green which made him look bad.
Green misses with a wild combination.
Good exchange - Backer coming out on top.
Green avoids the body shot from Backer.

Backer defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Green.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Norris Green. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Backer has taken the fight to the clinch.

Backer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Backer gets the takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Backer is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Green knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Backer lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Green down.

Zach Backer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Backer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
