Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johan Machado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Liddel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machado's entrance music is Enter Sandman. A fine choice. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johan Machado! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chuck Liddel! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Liddel manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Machado on his heels. He'll look to pass Machado's guard now, I'm sure. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Machado is looking for a triangle but Liddel pushes his legs off easily.
Liddel gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Machado throws a right and a left that Liddel avoids nicely. Liddel is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Machado's half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Liddel seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Machado does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Machado actively working from the bottom here. Liddel is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Machado tries to get to full guard but Liddel has control of the leg. Liddel is figuring out what he wants to do next. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Chuck Liddel wasn't active enough on the ground. Liddel lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
It looks like Johan Machado has been cut.

Liddel throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Machado getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Machado throws a nice looking combination but Liddel bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Machado tries for a takedown but Liddel circles away easily so Liddel counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Machado has his foot on Liddel's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Liddel works his way back into a safe position though. Machado throws his legs up looking for a submission but Liddel uses it to pass to side control.
Liddel stands up and we're back to a striking position. Machado jabbing away but nothing is landing. Machado takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Liddel has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Machado slips a jab and a cross from Liddel.

Machado shoots and misses and Liddel counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Machado's guard now. Machado is breathing heavily. Liddel wants to stand but Machado has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Liddel trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Machado had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Liddel defends it easily. Machado seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
