Hearns bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Sparks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sparks is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Hearns has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sparks can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Hearns is still in real trouble! Can Sparks finish him?
Hearns is trying to control the position but Sparks postures up.
Hearns seems to have recovered his senses.
Sparks has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Sparks wants to stand but Hearns has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Sparks looks to throw the jab but Hearns is out of range.

and Hearns counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hearns.

Hearns's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sparks throws an off balance right hand
and Hearns counters with a series of strikes. Sparks will be more careful next time no doubt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Hearns counters by moving into the clinch.
Sparks wants to get back to striking at distance but Hearns won't allow it.
Hearns keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Sparks's efforts to push away.

Hearns breaks from the clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sparks connects with a nice looking jab.
Sparks Throws a clean left jab. Sparks Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with Hearns's chin! Hearns crumbles to the ground and Sparks follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Nice standup skills displayed by Sparks!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Frank Sparks!
After the fight, Frank Sparks was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
