Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Irvin Traut!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Barnett!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Eddie Farnsworth and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Traut moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


It looks like Josh Barnett has been cut.

Barnett shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Barnett tries to free his leg and advance position but Traut is retaining full guard.
Traut really is a fat lump.
Traut looking to hit a scissor sweep but Barnett is one step ahead there.
Traut keeping moving, preventing Barnett from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barnett looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Irvin Traut has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Traut lands an overhand right.
Traut bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Barnett's head backwards.
Irvin Traut seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Oooh a lovely combination from Traut sends Barnett down but not out. Traut dives into side control looking to finish.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
You can see the frustration on Barnett's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Barnett is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Barnett is pressing down on Traut's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Traut lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Barnett avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Barnett keeping moving, preventing Traut from controlling successfully.
Barnett manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Barnett tries to control but Traut wriggling away.

Barnett is working for a guillotine from mount but Traut frees his head quite easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Barnett is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Traut can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Traut on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Traut tries to get out of the position.

Barnett working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Traut turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Barnett off and cradles Traut's limp body as Barnett celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Josh Barnett!
