Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shirley Spears (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shirley Spears!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Anderson Silva!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Darius Henderson and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva drives through and clinches with Spears against the cage.
Silva jumps guard but Spears turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Spears really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Spears dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.

Spears drags the fight down to the ground.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Spears trying to control the position.
Silva postures up in Spears's guard and throws a big left but Spears blocks it.

Spears is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Silva is aware though and is defending well.

Silva is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Spears knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground.
Silva throwing strikes but missing.
Silva working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Spears tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silva drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Silva jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Spears wants to control but Silva passes easily into half guard.

Silva is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Silva is looking for a kimura but Spears is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Silva to get the leverage.
Spears tries to kick Silva off in order to stand up. Silva Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Silva misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
You can see the frustration on Spears's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Spears dodges the ground and pound from Silva.

Silva working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Silva tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Silva has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Silva is working to tighten his grip on Spears's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Spears has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Silva is really squeezing tight and eventually Spears passes out! Silva breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Anderson Silva!
Anderson Silva decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
