Lurch has chosen Won't back down - Tom Petty as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jarik Belson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ethan Lurch!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Matheus Silva and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Belson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lurch shoots in for a takedown but Belson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Lurch shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Belson sprawls well. Belson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lurch gets slowly back to his feet.
Lurch is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Lurch uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Belson.
Belson throws a lazy right hand but Lurch sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Belson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Lurch avoids a punch combination nicely.
Lurch displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Belson throws out the jab.
Belson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Lurch's head backwards.
Lurch fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jarik Belson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ethan Lurch.
Belson throws a hook but Lurch avoids it easily.
Lurch shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Belson as he jumps to the side.
Lurch slips under a jab from Belson.
Lurch moves away from the strike by Belson.
Lurch on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Lurch looks for a takedown but Belson sprawls well.
Lurch moves in looking to clinch but Belson pushes him off.
Belson throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


Lurch is rocked!


It looks like Ethan Lurch has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lurch doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Lurch is still on wobbly legs! Can Belson finish him?

That's one minute gone in the round.
Belson cracks Lurch with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Lurch tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Belson pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Lurch is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:07 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jarik Belson!
Jarik Belson retains his welterweight title!
