Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kenshin Maeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jo Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jo Silva has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Kenshin Maeda's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenshin Maeda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jo Silva!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yuuki Gou and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Maeda.
Silva fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Maeda tries to clinch up.
Silva fails with the takedown.
Maeda lands a nice looking body kick.
A head kick misses from Maeda.
Maeda dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Silva. That did some damage!
Silva shoots for a takedown but Maeda saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kenshin Maeda has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jo Silva.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jo Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva blocks a head kick by Maeda.

Maeda tries to close the distance and clinch but Silva swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Maeda clinches up with Silva and pushes him back against the cage.
Silva tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Maeda just stands there and leans against the cage.
Silva keeps control of Maeda as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Silva tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Maeda breaks from the clinch.
Maeda throws a head kick that misses.
Silva looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Maeda is fending him off so far but Silva persists. Nope, Maeda circles away and we're back to standing.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Maeda wants to clinch.
Maeda misses with the combination.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Maeda misses with a few strikes there.
Maeda lands a head kick. Silva smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Maeda throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Maeda thows a body shot but no joy.
Maeda throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Silva.
A thudding body kick lands there by Maeda!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Silva misses with a takedown attempt - Maeda sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Silva avoids the head kick by Maeda.
Silva has a takedown stuffed.
Maeda throws a head kick that misses.

Maeda moves into the clinch.
Silva tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Maeda breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Silva fails with the takedown.
Silva looks gassed!
Maeda pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but Maeda shows good takedown defense.
Maeda throws a head kick that misses.
Silva keeps the fight on the outside.
Silva is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Maeda throws a head kick that misses.
Maeda scores with a hook.
Silva fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kenshin Maeda dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Silva shoots in but Maeda avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Maeda doesn't manage to clinch there - Silva circles away.
Silva swats away the attempt to clinch by Maeda.
Maeda throws a sloppy head kick and Silva moves out of range easily.

Maeda closes the distance and clinches up with Silva, looking for a takedown. Maeda pushes Silva against the cage but Silva circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Maeda throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silva's waist but Silva gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Maeda off to one side.
Maeda lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Silva avoids the head kick by Maeda.
Maeda throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Silva misses with a takedown

and Maeda counters with a single leg into guard. Silva didn't expect that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Maeda advances to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Silva wants to control but Maeda passes into side.
Maeda moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Maeda decides to take the fight back to the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Silva is breathing heavily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Silva.
Maeda wants to control but Silva postures up.
Maeda tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Silva easily slips into full mount!
Maeda knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground.

Maeda is trying desperately to improve position.
Silva avoids the attempt from Maeda to control.
Maeda squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kenshin Maeda dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Maeda throws a head kick but Silva moves out of range.
Maeda changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Silva tries to avoid it but Maeda manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Silva to the ground. Silva escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Maeda counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Silva is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Maeda connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Maeda forces Silva back against the cage and clinches.
Maeda is trying to drag Silva to the mat but Silva just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Silva prevents Maeda from breaking the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Maeda breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Silva misses with a takedown attempt

and Maeda counters with a nice double leg into side control. Silva won't be happy with that.
Kenshin Maeda has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jo Silva.
Silva is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Maeda off and has taken his back!

Silva patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Maeda wants to get back to his feet.

Maeda is having to fend off submission attempts from Silva, who is looking to sink in the choke. Silva doesn't have the hooks in though and Maeda manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

Maeda gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Silva shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Maeda's guard.
Jo Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kenshin Maeda is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Maeda wriggles free and stands up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kenshin Maeda showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Maeda has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
