PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jeremy McAdoo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Azevedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeremy McAdoo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Pedro Azevedo!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McAdoo keeps the fight on the outside.
McAdoo fails to land the takedown.

McAdoo is looking to clinch.

Azevedo gets in close and instigates a clinch.
McAdoo is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

McAdoo pulls guard successfully.
Azevedo is looking to stand up but McAdoo won't let him.

McAdoo lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Azevedo!

McAdoo swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Azevedo is now in McAdoo's guard. A big mistake from McAdoo there, giving up the dominant position!

McAdoo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Azevedo defends well.

McAdoo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Azevedo is aware though and is defending well.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jeremy McAdoo just wasn't active enough.
Azevedo tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but McAdoo defends well and Azevedo ends up having to push McAdoo into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

McAdoo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
McAdoo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Azevedo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
McAdoo tries for a takedown but Azevedo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Azevedo shoots in looking for a takedown. McAdoo tries to sprawl out of it but Azevedo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McAdoo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeremy McAdoo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Azevedo is trying hard to land a takedown here. McAdoo sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Azevedo thumps McAdoo with a low kick.
McAdoo shoots in looking for a takedown but Azevedo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing McAdoo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Azevedo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McAdoo tries to avoid it but Azevedo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McAdoo to the ground. McAdoo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jeremy McAdoo.

McAdoo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
McAdoo throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. McAdoo connects with a nice short shot to Azevedo's temple.

Azevedo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Azevedo is refusing to be controlled, as McAdoo sits in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jeremy McAdoo.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McAdoo has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Azevedo is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

McAdoo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Azevedo but Azevedo pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Pedro Azevedo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

McAdoo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Azevedo avoids it really well and circles away.

McAdoo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Azevedo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time McAdoo.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for McAdoo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
