PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Summers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Chavo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Summers comes to the cage accompanied by Avatar - Let It Burn. Chavo comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Rico Sauve by Girardo kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nathan Summers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eddie Chavo!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Summers tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Chavo was well out of range. Poor timing from Summers.
Summers connects with the punch.
Summers throws a head kick that Chavo semi-blocks.
Chavo chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Summers can pounce on him.
Summers misses with a double jab
and Chavo counters with a nice body kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Summers tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Summers throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Chavo.

Chavo shoots in and bounces Summers off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Chavo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Summers is keeping the position for now.
Chavo makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Chavo lands a couple of elbows.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Summers is working an open guard so Chavo takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Chavo has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Summers scores with a hook.
Chavo blocks a head kick by Summers.
Summers throws a head kick that misses.
A head kick misses from Summers.
Summers tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Chavo blocks a head kick by Summers.
Summers goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Summers misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Chavo is looking to clinch.
Chavo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Summers tries to avoid it but Chavo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Summers to the ground. Summers escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Summers misses with a few strikes there.

Chavo gets a takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Chavo is trying to work for a kimura but Summers is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Chavo prevents Summers from standing back up.

Chavo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Summers sees it coming and defends easily.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Chavo connects with a nice short shot to Summers's temple.
Chavo not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Chavo lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chavo looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Chavo is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Chavo lands with some strikes.
Chavo looking to ground and pound but Summers is blocking nicely.
Chavo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Chavo looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Chavo scores with a couple of good head shots there.


Summers is rocked!


It looks like Nathan Summers has been cut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Chavo fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Oh Summers is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Summers takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Chavo's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Eddie Chavo!
Jumping up and down and very excited, Eddie Chavo waved his t-shirt featuring [JMFC] Arashi Fighting Nutrition's logo in front of the cameras.
