0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jay Pierre! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carwin misses with the combination.

Pierre ducks under a wild hook from Carwin. Carwin connects with a body shot. Carwin throws a series of punches but Pierre avoids them all with ease. Carwin throws a sloppy body shot
and Pierre counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. No luck for Pierre with that takedown attempt. Carwin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pierre circles away quickly and effectively.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Pierre looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Carwin tries to escape but Pierre is in control. Pierre working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Carwin is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Pierre tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pierre has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Pierre is trying to get an arm triangle but Carwin is defending well. We've been hearing good reports from Carwin's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

That sent Pierre stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Pierre keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Nice shot by Carwin. Pierre gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Carwin. Carwin rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pierre moves out of range and avoids them all easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pierre uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Carwin. Carwin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pierre circles away quickly and effectively. Carwin misses with a looping left. Carwin with a nice cross. Carwin cracks Pierre with a right hand to the side of the head.

so Pierre counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Pierre throws an elbow that misses. Carwin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pierre's guard. Nice move by Carwin! Carwin won't allow Pierre to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carwin stands and steps away. Pierre gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Carwin misses with a wild combination.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Pierre moves out of range of the strikes. Carwin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Carwin misses with a series of wild punches.
Pierre uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Carwin. A punch combination from Carwin misses. Carwin misses with a right hand and Pierre counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Pierre. Carwin can't keep his opponent in guard - Pierre advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Pierre is looking for a kimura but Carwin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pierre to get the leverage. Carwin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Carwin tries to get out of the position.

Pierre stands up and beckons Carwin to join him on the feet. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Carwin lands a body shot.

Pierre ducks under a wild hook from Carwin. Carwin shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Pierre eats them both and turns towards Carwin to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Pierre tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Carwin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Carwin fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Pierre on the side of the head. Pierre throws a series of punches but Carwin moves out of range. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Carwin dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Carwin lands with an overhand left. Carwin slips a jab and a cross from Pierre.
And that's the end of the fight! Hector Carwin showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Carwin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
