PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ezekiel Cash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leo Bruce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bruce is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Migos-Y.R.H. Ezekiel Cash has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ezekiel Cash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Leo Bruce!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Bruce tries to keep at a distance but Cash has taken the fight into the clinch.

Bruce has hold of one of Cash's legs. Cash is fighting the takedown attempt but Bruce gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Bruce trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Bruce makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Cash pulls Bruce in close to his closed guard and prevents Bruce from doing any damage or advancing position.
Bruce throwing strikes but missing.
Cash wants to sweep here but Bruce controlling him for the moment.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bruce accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Cash holds on and takes a little breather.
Cash is trying to keep Bruce in close.
Cash could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bruce wants to stand but Cash has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bruce accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Cash is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Cash trying to control from half guard but Bruce is working away.

Cash decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Cash looks to score with a jab to the body but Bruce is just out of range.
Bruce takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Cash misses the shot to the body.
Cash misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bruce.
Cash tries to clinch but Bruce moves out of range.
Bruce keeps the fight on the outside.
Cash throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Cash pushes Bruce up against the cage in a clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bruce has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Cash is trying to keep an underhook but Bruce manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Bruce is looking to advance position but Cash won't allow it.
Nice strikes from Bruce there.
Bruce is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Bruce prevents Cash from improving his position.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Bruce working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Cash manages to get to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cash is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Cash is adopting a defensive guard.
Bruce loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Bruce throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cash works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cash working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bruce.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cash is pulling down on Bruce's head to control his posture.
Bruce throws a strike but Cash rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Cash sitting in guard here, content to control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ezekiel Cash will probably get the nod.

Cash lands a nice looking body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bruce takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Cash gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Bruce postures up in Cash's guard and throws a big left but Cash blocks it.
Cash manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Cash can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bruce is looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cash controlling the pace for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cash thowing shots but they're missing.
Cash lands a big shot there that rocks Bruce but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cash content just to control the position here.
Cash has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Cash with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Bruce wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ezekiel Cash dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Cash fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Cash tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Bruce counters with a three punch combo that has Cash backing up. Cash nods at Bruce to acknowledge the strikes.

Cash is rocked!
Cash has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cash pushes Bruce up against the cage in a clinch.
Oh Cash is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Bruce tightens his grip and picks Cash up, before dumping him to the ground. Cash manages to land in guard.

Cash is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Bruce distracts Cash with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Cash might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Bruce loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Bruce avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Bruce loads up on a big left hand. Cash felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Bruce looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Cash can't hide his disappointment, as Bruce celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Leo Bruce!
After the fight, Leo Bruce was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
