Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Bryan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phil Brooks!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bryan is defended easily by Brooks.

and Bryan moves into the clinch.
Brooks is trying to drag Bryan to the mat but Bryan just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Brooks is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Bryan is defending well.
Daniel Bryan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phil Brooks.

Bryan is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Bryan is trying to force a seperation but Brooks has the dominant position.

Brooks has Bryan pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Brooks pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Bryan tumbling to the mat - Brooks dives into Bryan's guard.

Brooks working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bryan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bryan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Brooks is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Bryan wanted to stand there but Brooks had control of the position.

Bryan wants to get up but he can't break Brooks's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Bryan wants to stand and escape but Brooks is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Brooks bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Brooks has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Bryan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Brooks wants to take his opponent's back but Bryan doesn't allow it.
Bryan wants to control but Brooks is having none of it.
Bryan is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Bryan is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Brooks with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Bryan is wriggling around trying to escape.
Brooks is trying to take his opponent's back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phil Brooks dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Bryan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Brooks has knee on belly momentarily but Bryan bucks him off and regains half guard.

Bryan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Brooks can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Bryan pushes Brooks off looking to stand but Brooks dives back in and keeps control.

Bryan is looking for a sweep. Brooks is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Bryan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Brooks's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Brooks's back!
Bryan has the hooks in. Brooks is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Brooks tries to roll but Bryan sticks to his back.

Bryan is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Brooks defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
This has been an exciting period of action!

That was a close second round but I would say that Daniel Bryan will probably get the nod.

Bryan controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Brooks has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Bryan is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Brooks.
Bryan tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Brooks wants to sweep but Bryan has passed to side control!

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Bryan wants to free his trapped foot but Brooks is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Brooks is staying active underneath Bryan, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Brooks moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Bryan forces his way into half guard.
Bryan uses his free foot to push down on Brooks's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Brooks.

Brooks tries to improve his position but Bryan has taken his back! Bryan has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Brooks tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Bryan pushes Brooks away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Daniel Bryan!
In his post fight interview, Daniel Bryan gave a big smile as he said 'YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! '.
