Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stephen Mur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David Powers has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, David Powers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Stephen Mur!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Winston Alpacca and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Powers feints and as Mur raises his hands in defense, Powers changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mur pulls Powers in close to his closed guard and prevents Powers from doing any damage or advancing position.
Powers wants to stand but Mur has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Mur controls Powers momentarily but Powers frees himself.
Powers stands up over Mur, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Mur throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Powers has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Powers is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Mur working a defensive guard here.
Mur tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Mur trying to keep a closed guard but Powers is proving a slippery customer.

Stephen Mur has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Powers throws a front kick aimed at Mur's knee but Mur avoids it well.

Powers closes the distance and clinches.

Powers pulls guard effortlessly.
Powers controls Mur momentarily but Mur frees himself.

Mur wants to control from the top but Powers keeps moving.

Mur is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Powers seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Mur trying to control the position from guard on top but Powers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Powers is trying to control the position but Mur postures up.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Powers keeping moving, preventing Mur from controlling successfully.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Powers will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Powers fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mur, pushing him back against the cage.
Powers content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Powers throws a punch but it's blocked by Mur.
Powers throws an elbow that misses.
Powers is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mur tries to pull guard but Powers holds him up against the cage and eventually Mur drops back down to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Powers dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Powers misses with a two punch combination.
Powers fails with a takedown attempt.

Powers closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mur's guard.
Powers wants to stand and escape but instead Mur has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Mur drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mur jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Powers is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mur trying to control but Powers is working from the bottom.
David Powers overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mur pushing down on Powers's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Mur wants to lay and pray for a moment but Powers keeps working.
Powers might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Mur is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Powers defends it well.
Mur looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Mur is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Powers sees it coming and defends easily.
Mur is trying to control the action in half guard but Powers is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Powers trying to hold on to Mur's head to control him but Mur postures up.

Powers is defending against the submission attempts here by Mur.

Mur is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Powers is just riding it out for now. Mur eventually gives up the hold.

Mur is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Mur is trying to work for a kimura but Powers is defending well.
Powers is staying active underneath Mur, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Mur looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Powers is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mur pulls his head out easily.
Mur keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Mur is trying to control the action in half guard but Powers is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Powers shoots in but no luck this time.
Powers throws a head kick but Mur moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mur circles away from the clinch attempt.
Powers looks for a takedown but Mur sprawls well.

Powers wants to clinch.

Powers closes the distance and pushes Mur back into the cage.
Powers stalling.
Mur is trying to pull guard but Powers turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Powers breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Powers tries to clinch up but Mur circles away and keeps his distance.

Powers looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Mur defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Powers.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Powers. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Powers closes the distance and clinches.
Mur is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Powers to keep the fight standing.
Mur stops a takedown attempt from Powers.
Mur tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Powers smiles and moves away.
Powers tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mur manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Powers fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mur avoids it really well and circles away.

Powers looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Mur looking for submissions off his back.

Mur actively working from the bottom here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Powers working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Mur is trying to control but can't.
Powers has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Mur works to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Powers content to stall in guard here.

And that's the end of the fight!
David Powers showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Powers has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
