Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kurisu Ikora (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg LaFleche (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Greg LaFleche has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kurisu Ikora!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Greg LaFleche!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Fujiwara and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
LaFleche tries a low kick but Ikora avoids it.
LaFleche loads up on a big right hand but Ikora slips the punch.

LaFleche looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
LaFleche is looking to take a break and control but Ikora is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ikora gets full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ikora is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ikora is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Ikora stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. LaFleche swivels though and keeps the full guard.

LaFleche tries to buck Ikora off but Ikora is having none of it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A telegraphed right hand from LaFleche misses the target.
LaFleche swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Ikora uses good head movement to avoid the hook from LaFleche.
Nice defenses there by Ikora.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Ikora shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ikora was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Ikora is working for a submission of some sort.

LaFleche is wriggling around trying to escape.

Ikora goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now LaFleche is on top in guard.

Ikora is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
LaFleche lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ikora lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for LaFleche!

Ikora jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… LaFleche is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by LaFleche and Ikora has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Ikora is sneakily working for an arm triangle but LaFleche sees it coming and defends easily.
LaFleche works his way to full guard. Good work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Greg LaFleche will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



LaFleche feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. LaFleche lands a nice short elbow.


Ikora is rocked!
LaFleche working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Oh Ikora is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ikora has hold of LaFleche's hands but LaFleche slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

LaFleche winds up and cracks Ikora with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
LaFleche is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Ikora is hurt! He's hurt bad - LaFleche fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Ikora from any more punishment! Congratulations to LaFleche! Great finish!
