Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Son Briggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DJ Nugent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Son Briggs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, DJ Nugent! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Atkins and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Nugent. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Briggs regains half guard. Briggs makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Briggs. Nugent really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Briggs. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Nugent trying to control the position from guard on top but Briggs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Briggs is looking for a triangle but Nugent pushes his legs off easily.
Briggs has his foot on Nugent's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nugent works his way back into a safe position though. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Briggs keeping moving, preventing Nugent from controlling successfully. Nugent throwing strikes but missing. Briggs lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Nugent!
That's one minute gone in the round. Briggs cracks Nugent with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Briggs lands a heavy elbow. Nugent is looking to get to half guard. Briggs working Nugent over with strikes here. Briggs can't control as he wanted to and Nugent manages to get the fight back to his half guard. Briggs has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Nugent is looking to improve his position.
Nugent on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Nugent is looking for a sweep. Briggs is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Briggs working the head and body with strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nugent avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Briggs. Nugent trying to control here.
Briggs misses with a head shot. Nugent uses the momentum to regain guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Briggs accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Briggs throws a big elbow that misses. Briggs throws a big right hand that misses. Briggs is looking to work some ground and pound but Nugent has wrist control. Nugent is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Briggs slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Nugent looking to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Briggs wants to control from the top but Nugent keeps moving.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Briggs shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nugent is trying to defend but Briggs finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Briggs really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Ground and pound from Briggs. Briggs not landing any meaningful shots this time. Nugent wants to improve his position but Briggs is controlling well.
Briggs sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Nugent defending well though. Briggs is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Briggs missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Briggs landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Briggs prevents Nugent from improving his position. Nugent looks winded! Briggs throwing shots but Nugent is blocking nicely. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Briggs connects with a nice short shot to Nugent's temple. Nugent is looking to improve his position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Briggs missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Briggs not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Briggs sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Nugent defending well though. Nugent wants to get back to full guard. Briggs working the head and body with strikes. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Nugent trying to hold on to Briggs's head to control him but Briggs postures up.
Briggs stands up out of the half guard. Nugent swats away the attempt to clinch by Briggs. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Son Briggs dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Nugent gets in close and instigates a clinch. Briggs fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Briggs just leaning against Nugent, taking a breather. Nugent gets a trip takedown into half guard. Briggs is trying to get back to full guard. Nugent is stalling here. Briggs is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Nugent seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Briggs has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Briggs throws a strike aimed at the side of Nugent's head but Nugent avoids it well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nugent can't do much from the bottom here. Briggs is putting a hurting on Nugent here, landing some big shots from side control. Son Briggs overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nugent is positioning himself to get back to half guard. You can see the frustration on Nugent's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Nugent is breathing heavily. Nugent parries the strikes from Briggs easily there. Briggs is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Nugent to escape.
Briggs trying to control the action but Nugent is working from the bottom. Briggs scores with a couple of short elbows. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Briggs trying to control the position but Nugent is working away. Briggs is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Nugent has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nugent struggling a bit here. Briggs fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Nugent struggling a bit here. Briggs cracks Nugent with a big elbow. Briggs scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Nugent to see if he's OK. Briggs in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Briggs is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Nugent has escaped the position, nice work there. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Briggs is working to tighten his grip on Nugent's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Nugent has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Briggs is really squeezing tight and eventually Nugent passes out! Briggs breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
