PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Artak Jedigarian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikko Sinkila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mikko Sinkila was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Artak Jedigarian!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mikko Sinkila!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Winston Alpacca and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sinkila tries to close the distance and clinch but Jedigarian swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Sinkila.

and Jedigarian counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Jedigarian wants to pass to mount but Sinkila is defending the position.
Sinkila really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jedigarian. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jedigarian seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sinkila does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jedigarian lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Sinkila is squirming around, avoiding Jedigarian's attempts to control the action.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jedigarian looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Jedigarian jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Sinkila is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Sinkila and Jedigarian has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Jedigarian looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sinkila with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Jedigarian is keen to just control but Sinkila is a slippery customer.
Jedigarian slips a nice elbow through Sinkila's hands, connecting with Sinkila's forehead.
Jedigarian has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sinkila is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Jedigarian is looking for a kimura but Sinkila is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jedigarian to get the leverage.

Jedigarian is nestled in close to Sinkila, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Jedigarian works his foot free and advances to mount.
Jedigarian wants to control the pace but Sinkila is squirming around nicely.
Jedigarian lands a nice shot to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sinkila tries to hold on but Jedigarian postures up.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Jedigarian is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Sinkila has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Jedigarian looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A telegraphed right hand from Sinkila misses the target.
Sinkila shoots in looking for a takedown but Jedigarian manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sinkila's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Sinkila creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Jedigarian blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Sinkila tries to land knees in the clinch but Jedigarian avoids the damage to the body.

Sinkila looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Jedigarian blocks an uppercut.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Jedigarian.
Sinkila swings wildly with an uppercut but Jedigarian uses good head movement to avoid it.
Sinkila looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Sinkila goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Sinkila is trying to break the clinch but Jedigarian is controlling him.
Sinkila misses with a body punch.

Sinkila breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mikko Sinkila is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sinkila shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jedigarian as he jumps to the side.
Artak Jedigarian has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mikko Sinkila.
Sinkila closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jedigarian circles away.
Good exchange - Sinkila coming out on top.

and Jedigarian counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Sinkila!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sinkila takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Jedigarian trying to control the position but Sinkila is working away.
Jedigarian works to advance to full mount. Sinkila defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Sinkila is breathing heavily.

Sinkila has left one of his arms exposed and Jedigarian doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Sinkila screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Artak Jedigarian!
