Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nobero Shimasaki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Jones! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shimasaki clinches up against the cage. Shimasaki breaks the clinch.
Shimasaki throws a leg kick and Jones counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Shimasaki slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Shimasaki darts in and clinches Jones up against the cage. Jones controlling the action here for a moment.
Jones tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Shimasaki just stands there and leans against the cage. Jones takes a knee right on the jaw!

Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shimasaki swivels though and keeps the full guard. Jones wants to control from the top but Shimasaki keeps moving. Jones stands up and waves to Shimasaki to follow him.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shimasaki bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard. Jones is working an open guard so Shimasaki takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Shimasaki throws a front kick that sends Jones stumbling back into the cage. Jones takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

That's three minutes gone in the round. Shimasaki looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Jones stops Shimasaki from standing up. Shimasaki wants to sweep but no luck. Shimasaki throws a nice elbow from the bottom. Shimasaki is trying to control the position but Jones postures up. Shimasaki is looking to sweep but instead, Jones has passed into half guard.

Jones seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Shimasaki has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Jones prevents Shimasaki from improving position. Jones takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Shimasaki gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Shimasaki jumps guard and drags Jones to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Shimasaki is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him. Jones stopping the sweep attempt from Shimasaki. Jon Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Nobero Shimasaki is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Jones missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
