PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Titus Cochran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Dirr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Titus Cochran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alex Dirr!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cochran avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dirr misses with a takedown attempt - Cochran sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Dirr changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cochran looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Dirr is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cochran is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Cochran manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Cochran wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Dirr uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

Dirr looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Cochran controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Dirr had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cochran defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cochran has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

We're going to have a standup here because Titus Cochran wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Dirr tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Cochran manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Dirr tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cochran swivels and escapes.
Dirr misses with a double jab
and Cochran counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Dirr fails with the takedown

and Cochran counters by moving into the clinch.
Titus Cochran has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Dirr.
Cochran fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Cochran gets control of Dirr's arms and successfully pulls guard. Cochran will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Cochran knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dirr on the ground.

Cochran wants to hit a switch here but Dirr passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Cochran there!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cochran is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Cochran is working to get back to half guard.
Dirr seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Cochran is holding on tight.
Cochran really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Dirr thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Dirr moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Cochran has worked his arm free - good work by Cochran!
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dirr tries to score with some ground and pound. Cochran controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alex Dirr dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Cochran swats away the attempt to clinch by Dirr.

and Cochran counters with a stiff right hand.
Dirr dives in and grabs Cochran's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cochran pushes down on Dirr's head and hops out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cochran decides to stand back up. Cochran steps back and let's Dirr get back to his feet.
Dirr closes the distance but Cochran moves to the side
and Cochran counters with a nice body shot.
Dirr shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Cochran cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Cochran closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Dirr tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Cochran's elbow.
Dirr fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Cochran is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Dirr to keep the fight standing.
Cochran throws an elbow but it misses.

Dirr is trying to break free.
Cochran tries to pull guard but Dirr forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Dirr is trying to force a seperation but Cochran has the dominant position.
Dirr jumps guard but Cochran stands there with Dirr around his waist. Dirr gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Cochran jumps guard and drags Dirr to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Cochran manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dirr manages to get himself to full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cochran's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Dirr has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cochran can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Alex Dirr has got the better of the ground game so far.

Dirr looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Cochran has picked Dirr up and slammed him! Dirr can't keep hold of the triangle and Cochran manages to pass to side control!

Dirr is trying to get back to half guard.

Dirr is trying to escape the position but Cochran is controlling the position.

Cochran decides to take the fight back to the feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cochran moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Cochran counters with a nice body shot.

Cochran gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Dirr to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Dirr stands up out of Cochran's guard for a moment - Cochran manages to land a nice upkick.
Dirr tries to free his leg and advance position but Cochran is retaining full guard.
Cochran bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dirr's guard.
Dirr takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Dirr has an active guard here but Cochran has managed to pass into half guard.

Dirr is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Cochran escapes and gets back to his feet.
Cochran ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Dirr moves away.
Cochran avoids the head kick by Dirr.

Cochran ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Cochran closes the distance and clinches.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Cochran jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Dirr walks away with a smile on his face. Cochran gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

And that's the end of the fight!
Titus Cochran showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Cochran has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
