PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Houston Warren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyler Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Evans has chosen Superman - Soulja boy as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Houston Warren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tyler Evans!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Warren throws a right and a left that Evans avoids nicely.

Evans closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Warren quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Evans is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Warren has managed to free his arm - good work.
Warren is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Evans wants to take a breather but Warren is having none of it.
Evans keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Warren trying to control but Evans postures up.
Evans wants to lay and pray for a moment but Warren keeps working.
Warren wants to get back to full guard but Evans has mounted him!

Evans has control of Warren's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Warren regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Warren sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Evans seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Tyler Evans hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Warren closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Evans keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Evans is staying active underneath Warren, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Warren looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Warren fails in his attempt to clinch.
Warren throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Warren avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Warren tries to clinch there but Evans circles away.
Tyler Evans seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Warren moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Warren drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Evans utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Evans wants to stand but Warren is controlling the position.
Evans pulls Warren in close to his closed guard and prevents Warren from doing any damage or advancing position.
Evans wants to stand and escape but Warren is having none of it.

Warren throws an elbow that misses. Evans uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Warren's guard. Nice move by Evans!

Warren wants to sweep but no luck.
Evans trying to control the position from guard on top but Warren is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Evans loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Warren is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Evans takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Tyler Evans hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Warren wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Warren crunches a lovely knee into Evans's ribcage.
Warren tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Evans smiles and moves away.

Evans turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Evans manages to end up in side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Warren is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Evans's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Warren looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Evans stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Evans feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Evans decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Warren, up you get!

Evans pushes Warren up against the cage in a clinch.
Evans is pressed up against the cage. Warren has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Evans down to the mat. Evans avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Warren lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Evans closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Warren is not content to let Evans control the position.
Warren tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Evans wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Evans wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Warren, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tyler Evans is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Evans has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
