Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hughtavious Barkevious (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Mein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hughtavious Barkevious!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Mein!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Columbo Gatti and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, jab by Barkevious - just one landing.
Mein rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
enabling Barkevious to counter with a crisp jab.
Barkevious throws a right and a left that both miss.
Barkevious slips a jab from Mein.
Barkevious throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Barkevious smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Barkevious misses with a looping left.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Barkevious lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Mein has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Mein and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Mike Mein seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barkevious fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mein manages to avoid it.
Mein moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Mein scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mein swinging wildly here.
Barkevious takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Mein connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Barkevious momentarily.

Mein takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Mein misses with a straight left.
Mein throws a hook but Barkevious avoids it easily.
Nice uppercut lands for Mein. That snapped Barkevious's head back.
Mein misses the jab.
Barkevious keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Mein.
Mein misses with a few strikes there.
Mein misses with a double jab.
A swing and a miss from Mein.
Mein looks to throw the jab but Barkevious is out of range.
Barkevious closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Barkevious misses with a two punch combination.
Mein moves out of range of the body kick.
Mein throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Barkevious sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Barkevious swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Mein throws the left hand but Barkevious avoids the punch easily.
Barkevious throws the left hand but Mein avoids the punch easily.
Mein throws a combination that misses
letting Barkevious counter with a right hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mein thows a left - swing and a miss!
A big right from Mein misses.
Mein misses with a double jab.
We've been told by Barkevious's head coaches at Stark Slugger Society - NY that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Mein throws a lazy uppercut

and Barkevious counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Mein!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Mein trying to remain calm as Barkevious controls from the top position.
Mein is pushing Barkevious's head away, looking to escape. Barkevious manages to hold on to the position though.

Barkevious wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mein, who protects the arm well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barkevious is looking to take a break and control but Mein is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mein is trying to buck Barkevious off.
Mein really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Barkevious. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mein prevents Barkevious from improving position.
Mein gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Barkevious looking to ground and pound but Mein is blocking nicely.
Barkevious looking to control but Mein is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mein can do anything to dispel that myth.
Mein wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Hughtavious Barkevious will probably get the nod.
That's time! Barkevious's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Mein looks to land a combination but Barkevious avoids it well.
Barkevious throws an overhand right that lands on Mein's shoulder, as Mein tries to avoid the shot.

Barkevious shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Barkevious takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Mein is not content to let Barkevious control the position.
Mein tries to kick Barkevious off but Barkevious keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Well, if Barkevious is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Hughtavious Barkevious overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Hughtavious Barkevious wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Barkevious displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Mein throws out the jab.
Some wild striking there from Mein.
A solid leg kick lands there for Barkevious.
Mein might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Barkevious has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Mein finds it's way round the side to connect with Barkevious's head.

and Barkevious counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Mein wants to stand but Barkevious is controlling the position.
Barkevious in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Mein keeping moving, preventing Barkevious from controlling successfully.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mein can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Barkevious controls the pace.
Mein wants to stand and escape but Barkevious is having none of it.
Barkevious wants to control from the top but Mein keeps moving.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Hughtavious Barkevious wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

A decent looking cross lands there for Barkevious.
Mein smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Barkevious will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Mein throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Barkevious.

Mein is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Barkevious has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Barkevious throws a strike aimed at the side of Mein's head but Mein avoids it well.

Barkevious advances to full mount.
Barkevious wants to control the pace but Mein is squirming around nicely.

Barkevious is working for a guillotine from mount but Mein frees his head quite easily.

Mein is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Barkevious trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Barkevious won't let Mein get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Mein takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Barkevious trying to control but Mein is having none of it.
Barkevious scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Mein?
We've been informed that Mein has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

In his post fight interview, Hughtavious Barkevious started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
