Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fred Hess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Irvin Traut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Irvin Traut enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fred Hess!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Irvin Traut!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Eddie Farnsworth and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Traut throws out a powerful jab.

Hess manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Traut on his heels. He'll look to pass Traut's guard now, I'm sure.
Hess content to stall in guard here.

Hess drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hess jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hess won't allow Traut to sweep him here.
Hess slips nicely into half guard.

Hess decides to stand and escape the position.

Hess fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Traut sprawls well initially but Hess persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Hess really is a fat lump.

Hess stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Traut to get to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Traut enables Hess to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Traut manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Traut looking for a sweep. Not yet Traut, not yet.

Hess decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Traut thows a left - swing and a miss!

Hess bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Hess misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Traut is trying to get back to half guard.

Hess stands up.

Traut keeps the fight on the outside.
Irvin Traut is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Hess looking to score a takedown here. Traut is defending well but Hess drives through and ends up in Traut's guard.

Hess gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Hess closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hess is breathing heavily.
Hess seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Traut does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hess wants to take a breather but Traut is having none of it.

Traut is looking for a sweep. Hess is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Hess has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Traut is desperately trying to improve his position but Hess has a good base and remains in mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hess looking to control but Traut is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Traut can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hess throws some wild stikes that Traut manages to avoid easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hess shoots in and gets a takedown into Traut's guard.
Hess controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Traut working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hess.
Traut can't keep his opponent in guard - Hess advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Hess creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Traut sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Hess wants to take a breather but Traut is having none of it.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Hess slips a jab and a cross from Traut.

Hess has closed the distance and engaged Traut in a clinch.

Hess is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Traut can't fight it off and eventually Hess manages to take the fight to the floor. Traut looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Some wild striking there from Traut.

Hess lands a big head kick that sends Traut tumbling to the mat! Hess takes a step backwards and waves Traut back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Irvin Traut has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hess dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Traut has had enough and taps out.
