Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Li (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zhen Ji (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Li! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zhen Ji! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ji scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Li misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Li misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Ji lands a jab to the head.
Li shoots in for a double leg but Ji sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Ji jabs at Li's body. Ji throws a right hand that Li ducks under and follows up with a left that Li also avoids with ease. Li slips a jab and a cross from Ji.
Ji tries to clinch and Li counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
It looks like Zhen Ji has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Li decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Li lands with a punch from half guard. Ji strikes from the bottom but Li uses the opportunity to move to side control.
Ji takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Ji wants to get back to his feet but Li drags him back down. The ground and pound from Li seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Ji felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Li working the strikes but Ji uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Li working Ji over with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ji is trying to stand back up but Li is controlling him

The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ji with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Li is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Ji tries to kick Li off but Li keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Li is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Ji is trying to get back to full guard. Li throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Li has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ji avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Li.

We've been hearing that Li has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Ji has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Li is working away from the top position though. Ji flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Ji is rocked! Li is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Ji is hurt! He's hurt bad - Li fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Ji from any more punishment! Congratulations to Li! Great finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jason Li! A very excited looking Jason Li rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
