Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between William Gate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Santiago Ferreira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Santiago Ferreira struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 136.2lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, William Gate! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Santiago Ferreira! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gate gets caught flat footed, as Ferreira shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Gate is trying to keep Ferreira in close.
Ferreira works a leg free and moves into half guard. Ferreira is looking for a kimura but Gate is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ferreira to get the leverage. Gate is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ferreira pulls his head out easily. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Gate trying to control from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ferreira is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gate is just riding it out for now. Ferreira eventually gives up the hold. Ferreira lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Gate wants to control but Ferreira is keeping busy.
Ferreira passes to full mount! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gate is desperately trying to improve his position but Ferreira has a good base and remains in mount. Ferreira working for a guillotine from mount but Gate is in no mood to give up. Gate is trying to escape the mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Gate is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ferreira is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Gate can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Ferreira tries to control but Gate wriggling away. Gate is bucking up trying to escape but Ferreira cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Gate is in a horrible position here. Ferreira smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Gate is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The referee warns Gate that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gate bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Gate trying to control but Ferreira is working from the bottom. Ferreira keeping full guard, as Gate tries to pass. Gate got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ferreira has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gate has managed to get both his arms back between Ferreira's legs - danger averted. Gate trying to stand up but can't free himself from Ferreira's guard. Ferreira had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gate defends it easily. Gate stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ferreira swivels though and keeps the full guard. Gate avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gate trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Ferreira tries to strike from the bottom.
Gate drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gate jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gate throws a big elbow that misses. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ferreira looking for a sweep. Not yet Ferreira, not yet. Ferreira has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Gate should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Ferreira has tightened it up now! Gate should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
