Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between DonT Bill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rez Cortez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Cortez's choice of entrance music: Can We Still Be Friends. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, DonT Bill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rez Cortez!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Roger Salmon and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cortez changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Bill tries to move into range but Cortez moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Cortez lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Cortez works the jab nicely.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bill on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Bill shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Bill seems to be working for a kimura but Cortez defends the submission attempt.
Cortez is trying to stand back up but Bill is controlling him

Bill is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cortez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bill.

Bill is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Cortez has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cortez is looking to improve his position but Bill isn't that keen on the idea.

Bill is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cortez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bill looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Cortez bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Cortez looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Bill escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cortez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Bill had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cortez defends it easily.

Bill looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Bill has his foot on Cortez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cortez works his way back into a safe position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Bill looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Cortez wants to control from the top but Bill keeps moving.
Cortez stands up out of Bill's guard for a moment - Bill manages to land a nice upkick.

Bill has a closed guard, preventing Cortez from standing up.
Bill is trying to keep Cortez in close.
Bill pulls Cortez in close to prevent any damage.
Bill is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Cortez wants to control from the top but Bill keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

DonT Bill dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Cortez jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Cortez scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Good standup being displayed there by Cortez as he connects with a hook.
Cortez throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Bill on the side of the head.
Rez Cortez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice shot lands for Cortez.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Cortez, as that shot connected.
Cortez lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Cortez ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Cortez punishes Bill's body with a nice straight punch.

Cortez sends Bill crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Cortez is motioning to the referee to let Bill up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!


Bill is rocked!
Cortez connects with a body shot that sends Bill's belly button to the back.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cortez shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Bill takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Cortez sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Bill bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rez Cortez!
Our winner, Rez Cortez, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
