PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Igor Tatov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yi Liu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tatov comes to the cage accompanied by Soundgarden - Superunknown. Liu comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Superman - Jucifer kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and William Peck.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liu punishes Tatov's body with a nice straight punch.
Tatov keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Liu .

Liu has closed the distance and engaged Tatov in a clinch.
Tatov is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Liu pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Liu told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Tatov misses with a punch on the inside.

Tatov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Liu is looking to clinch.
Liu misses the shot to the body.
Tatov takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Liu displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Tatov throws out the jab.
Tatov ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Liu fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Tatov.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Tatov gets tackled into the cage by Liu . Liu maintains the clinch.
Liu tries a body shot but Tatov blocks it.

Liu gets control of Tatov's arms and successfully pulls guard. Liu will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Tatov works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Liu controlling the position for now.
Tatov missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Liu is refusing to be controlled, as Tatov sits in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Liu looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Liu is trying to control but can't.
Tatov looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Liu with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Liu has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tatov is working away from the top position though.

Tatov has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Liu defend it? Tatov steps over the head and cranks it - Liu is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Tatov!
