Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Gregoire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tauheed Epps (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Epps's choice of entrance music: 2 Chainz-Yuck. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Gregoire!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tauheed Epps!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Epps connects with an inside leg kick.
Gregoire with a poor takedown
enabling Epps to counter with a crisp jab.
Epps displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gregoire.
Gregoire shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Epps counters with a left to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Gregoire. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Epps scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Gregoire shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Epps but Epps pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Gregoire has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Gregoire dives in for a single leg takedown but Epps sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Gregoire is breathing heavily.
Gregoire prevents Epps from breaking the clinch.
Epps is trying to break the clinch but Gregoire is controlling him.
Epps is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Epps is trying to break free.
Epps wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gregoire has him pressed against the cage.

Epps looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Epps is looking to break free of the clinch but Gregoire has double underhooks.

Gregoire has Epps pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Gregoire pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Epps tumbling to the mat - Gregoire dives into Epps's guard.
Gregoire stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Epps swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gregoire stops Epps from standing up.
Gregoire stands and throws Epps's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Gregoire tries for a kimura but Epps is defending well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Epps wants to get back to his feet but Gregoire drags him back down.

Gregoire advances nicely into full mount.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Epps can do anything to dispel that myth.

Gregoire with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Gregoire is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Epps to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Epps shrugs it off.
Epps really wants to buck Gregoire off and get back to his feet.

Gregoire wants to finish this one by submission but Epps is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Gregoire.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gregoire wants to take his opponent's back but instead Epps manages to regain half guard.

Gregoire stops Epps from getting back to his feet.

Gregoire wants to work for an arm triangle but Epps is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Gregoire moves into full mount! Epps won't be happy about that!

Gregoire throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Epps has his hands clasped together but Gregoire breaks the hold and Epps is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Gregoire!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Nick Gregoire!
In his post fight interview, Nick Gregoire started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
