Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Booker McQuade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaspars Daugavins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McQuade comes to the cage accompanied by Eyes of a Ranger. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Booker McQuade! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kaspars Daugavins! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Decent striking displayed by Daugavins there. Daugavins takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
It looks like Kaspars Daugavins has been cut. Daugavins lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Daugavins misses with a left hand and McQuade connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. McQuade has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Daugavins finds it's way round the side to connect with McQuade's head. Daugavins ducks under a wild hook from McQuade. McQuade throws a left and a right that both miss
enabling Daugavins to counter with a crisp jab. Daugavins shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says McQuade as he avoids it easily. This has been an exciting period of action! McQuade swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Daugavins avoids the body shot from McQuade.
Daugavins scores with a sloppy right hand. McQuade should have avoided that one. Daugavins shoots in for a takedown and gets it. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Daugavins wants to lay and pray for a moment but McQuade keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. McQuade kicks off Daugavins and gets to his feet. McQuade blocks a jab. Daugavins's hands are dropping dangerously low here and McQuade connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Daugavins scrambles back to his feet. A jab from Daugavins misses. Daugavins shoots in for a takedown but McQuade shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. A lazy left from McQuade finds it's target. Daugavins throws an uppercut from half a mile away. McQuade sees it coming and avoids it easily. McQuade throws a front kick that sends Daugavins stumbling back into the cage. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. McQuade lands with a cross. Booker McQuade is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McQuade misses with a double jab
letting Daugavins counter with a right hand. McQuade feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Daugavins sprawling to the canvas! Daugavins rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can McQuade finish him?!
Daugavins is rocked! McQuade clinches. Daugavins is still on wobbly legs! Can McQuade finish him? McQuade jerks Daugavins's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Daugavins drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! McQuade goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from McQuade because Daugavins was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knee). Booker McQuade! Booker McQuade retains his lightweight title! An out of breath Booker McQuade thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
