PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Cyril Kerr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evert Bosma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bosma comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Eye of the Tiger kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cyril Kerr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Evert Bosma!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kerr misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Bosma takes the fight into the clinch.

Kerr successfully pulls guard.
Kerr really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kerr throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Bosma passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bosma trying to control the position but Kerr is working away.
Bosma is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Kerr will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Bosma tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bosma has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kerr is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Bosma is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Bosma throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Evert Bosma.
Kerr tries to clinch up but Bosma circles away and keeps his distance.
Kerr fails with a takedown attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bosma is defended easily by Kerr.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Bosma.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Bosma shoots for a double leg takedown but Kerr sprawls well. He's pushed Bosma's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kerr is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Bosma looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kerr is fending him off so far but Bosma persists. Nope, Kerr circles away and we're back to standing.

That was a close second round but I would say that Cyril Kerr will probably get the nod.

Bosma fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kerr avoids it really well and circles away.

Cyril Kerr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kerr misses with a head kick.
Kerr tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Bosma is able to avoid easily.
Kerr tries to clinch there but Bosma circles away.

Bosma clinches up with Kerr and pushes him back against the cage.
Bosma is trying to push Kerr away but Kerr has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Bosma jumps guard and drags Kerr to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Kerr wanted to stand there but Bosma had control of the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kerr drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bosma looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bosma looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bosma!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cyril Kerr.
I think Kerr has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
