PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Raoul Duke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Smokey Reaper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reaper has chosen Rains of Castamere as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. On his way into the cage it seems that Raoul Duke has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Raoul Duke seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raoul Duke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Smokey Reaper!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duke takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Reaper swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Duke has managed to clinch.
We've been hearing reports that Duke has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Reaper wants to get back to striking at distance but Duke won't allow it.

Duke pulls Reaper into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Duke has his foot on Reaper's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Reaper works his way back into a safe position though.

Duke seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Reaper for as long as he can get away with.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Smokey Reaper showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Duke has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Raoul Duke wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Duke is pushing Reaper up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Reaper wants to get up but he can't break Duke's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Duke manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Reaper manages to get himself to full guard.
