Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Noah Mayo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hawkeye Pierce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Noah Mayo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hawkeye Pierce!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mayo fails to land the takedown.

Mayo darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Pierce wants to control but Mayo is keeping busy.
Pierce moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Pierce pushes Mayo off and gets back to his feet.

Pierce shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mayo is trying to defend but Pierce finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Mayo is looking for a sweep. Pierce is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Pierce controlling the action here.
Pierce throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Pierce thows a huge punch but Mayo dodges it nicely.
Mayo is not content to let Pierce control the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Mayo flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Mayo is staying active underneath Pierce, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Hawkeye Pierce.
Pierce misses with a series of wild punches.

Pierce shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Pierce trying to control from Mayo's half guard. Mayo has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Pierce must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pierce trying to control but Mayo is working from the bottom.

Pierce gets to his feet - Mayo follows without any prompting.

Mayo doesn't manage to clinch there - Pierce circles away.

Mayo gets tackled into the cage by Pierce. Pierce maintains the clinch.

Mayo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Pierce.

Pierce swings around for an armbar but Mayo sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Pierce's guard.

Mayo lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mayo postures up.

Pierce is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mayo defends well.

Hawkeye Pierce dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Pierce drives through with a takedown into Mayo's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Pierce wants to pass the guard but Mayo is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pierce stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Hawkeye Pierce is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Pierce looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Mayo!

Mayo throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mayo enables Pierce to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mayo manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mayo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mayo is trying to control the position but Pierce postures up.
Pierce looking to sit in guard and control but Mayo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Mayo distracts Pierce with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Hawkeye Pierce has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mayo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mayo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Pierce manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mayo manages to get himself to full guard.
Pierce would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Mayo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pierce defends well.

Mayo has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Pierce has passed into side control.

Pierce decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Mayo avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Mayo shoots in for a takedown but Pierce shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Pierce slips a jab from Mayo.
Mayo wants to clinch.
Mayo tries to clinch up.

Pierce closes the distance and clinches.
Mayo using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Pierce has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Mayo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Pierce fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mayo to the ground. Pierce is now in Mayo's guard.
Pierce would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Pierce stays in close to Mayo's body and controls the position.
Pierce wants to stand but Mayo is controlling his posture from full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mayo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pierce is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hawkeye Pierce showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Mayo throws a nice elbow from the bottom.
Pierce wants to control from the top but Mayo keeps moving.

Mayo controls Pierce momentarily but Pierce frees himself.
Pierce tries to free his leg and advance position but Mayo is retaining full guard.
Pierce trying to control the position from guard on top but Mayo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mayo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Mayo takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Mayo tries to free his leg and advance position but Pierce is retaining full guard.
Mayo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pierce works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Mayo is working Pierce over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Pierce scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Pierce closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mayo did well to prevent Pierce getting side control.

Mayo manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Pierce keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Mayo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Pierce fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mayo to the ground. Pierce is now in Mayo's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pierce wants to get up but he can't break Mayo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Mayo keeping moving, preventing Pierce from controlling successfully.

Mayo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Pierce stopping the sweep attempt from Mayo.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Hawkeye Pierce was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Mayo doesn't manage to clinch there - Pierce circles away.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Noah Mayo.
Well Pierce has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
