PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kazuya Mishima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gabriel Yakasuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Kazuya Mishima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gabriel Yakasuki!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Atkins and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yakasuki closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mishima did well to prevent Yakasuki getting side control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Mishima is trying to get back to full guard.
Yakasuki throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Mishima knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Yakasuki on the ground.
Mishima has hold of Yakasuki's hands but Yakasuki slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Yakasuki lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Mishima wants to get back to his feet.
Mishima is refusing to be controlled, as Yakasuki sits in half guard.
Yakasuki working Mishima over with strikes.
Yakasuki winds up and cracks Mishima with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Yakasuki lands strikes from half guard.
Yakasuki takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Yakasuki landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Yakasuki connects with a nice short shot to Mishima's temple.

Yakasuki scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Yakasuki seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mishima does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Yakasuki lands a nice short elbow.
Yakasuki working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Yakasuki wants to control but Mishima is keeping him busy.
Yakasuki is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Yakasuki is pressing down on Mishima's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mishima is holding on for now.
Yakasuki is controlling the pace.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mishima has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Yakasuki is working away from the top position though.
Yakasuki lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Yakasuki is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Mishima might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Mishima has hold of Yakasuki's hands but Yakasuki slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Yakasuki working over Mishima with some ground and pound. Mishima looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Yakasuki looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Mishima is looking for a sweep. Yakasuki is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Yakasuki has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Yakasuki frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Yakasuki pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
BOOM! Yakasuki connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Mishima is rocked!
Yakasuki landing strikes, looking to finish!
Oh Mishima is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Yakasuki postures up and throws a massive shot that knocks Mishima out cold! Two more strikes to his unconscious opponent for good luck and this one is all over! Yakasuki goes absolutely crazy with his corner! Wow, you can see how much that win means to him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Gabriel Yakasuki!
Gabriel Yakasuki decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
