Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mario Banks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Stroup!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banks checks a low kick from Stroup.
Banks tries to clinch up.
Stroup circles away from the clinch attempt.
Stroup manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Banks on his heels. He'll look to pass Banks's guard now, I'm sure.
Stroup decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
The fight stays on the outside here - Stroup looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Banks tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Stroup manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Stroup feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Stroup decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Banks, up you get!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Stroup shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Banks can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Stroup controls the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Stroup postures up in Banks's guard and throws a big left but Banks blocks it.
Stroup stands and throws Banks's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Stroup has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Banks is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Stroup yanks on the arm and Banks is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Stroup.
