PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Timy Tiger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Frank (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tiger comes to the cage accompanied by DMX - Intro (Hell yeah). Frank has chosen Ball Game as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Timy Tiger has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Timy Tiger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tony Frank!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Franklyn Lucas and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tiger tries to clinch but Frank moves out of range.
Tiger motions for Frank to come forward. Tiger throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Tiger tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
We've been hearing reports that Tiger has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Tiger is looking to chop away at Frank's legs.
Tiger blocks a head kick by Frank.
Tiger scores with a nice head shot.
Frank blocks a head kick by Tiger.
Frank with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Frank walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Tiger closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
A nice right hand lands inside from Frank.
Frank throws a punch but it's blocked by Tiger.
Tiger tries to work over Frank's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Frank doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Frank has Tiger pushed against the cage.

Frank blocks a body shot from Tiger.
Frank blocks an uppercut.
A head punch on the inside from Frank fails to land.
Tiger is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
A hook to the body from Tiger.
Frank has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Tiger avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Tiger goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Tiger struggles to land a body shot inside as Frank controls his hands.
Tiger is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Frank goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Tiger is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Frank pushes Tiger back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Tiger blocks an uppercut.
Frank prevents a body shot from Tiger.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Frank has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Tiger misses with a body punch.

Frank gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Tiger regains guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Frank distracts Tiger with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Tiger keeping moving, preventing Frank from controlling successfully.
Frank has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Tiger holds on and takes a little breather.
Tiger looking for a sweep. Not yet Tiger, not yet.
Tiger is pulling down on Frank's head to control his posture.
Tiger trying to keep a closed guard but Frank is proving a slippery customer.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Timy Tiger just wasn't active enough.

Frank fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Tiger throws a body punch but Frank moves out of range.
Tiger goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tiger with a jab.
Tiger tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Tiger throws the left hand but Frank avoids the punch easily.
Frank takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Tiger jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Frank ducks under a wild hook from Tiger.
Tiger misses with a two punch combination.
Tiger bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Tiger throws a sloppy body shot
and Frank counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Tiger cracks Frank with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Frank defending well as Tiger loads up on a big left hand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Frank tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

A jab-cross combination lands for Tiger and sends Frank crashing to the mat! Tiger follows him down to the mat - Frank regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


Frank is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tiger throwing shots but Frank is blocking nicely.
Frank is still in real trouble! Can Tiger finish him?
Tiger not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Tiger takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Tiger lands a big elbow - Frank is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Tiger!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Timy Tiger!
Timy Tiger was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
The defeated Tony Frank had this to say: 'I'll be back! '.
