Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johnny LaRusso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vincent Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think LaRusso might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to You're The Best!. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnny LaRusso! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Vincent Hunter! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! LaRusso scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. A head kick misses from Hunter. LaRusso tries to clinch up. LaRusso misses with a wild body shot. Hunter changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. LaRusso looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. LaRusso is looking for a sweep. Hunter misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Hunter lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. LaRusso sneaks back into half guard. Hunter wants to take a breather but LaRusso is having none of it. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hunter not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. LaRusso keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Hunter not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Hunter missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Hunter takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Hunter throws a strike but LaRusso avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Hunter throws a big elbow that misses. Hunter throws a big elbow that misses. LaRusso lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hunter! Hunter tries to hold on but LaRusso pushes him away.

That's three minutes gone in the round. LaRusso blocks Hunter's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. LaRusso trying to control but he's not successful this time. Hunter tries to hold on but LaRusso postures up. Hunter is looking to get to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hunter keeps trying to improve his position. Hunter tries to hold on but LaRusso pushes him away. Hunter tries to get back to half guard but can't. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hunter wants to control but LaRusso is having none of it. That's one minute gone in the round. Hunter darts in looking for a takedown but LaRusso gets double underhooks and turns Hunter into the cage. Johnny LaRusso has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vincent Hunter. Hunter is trying to push LaRusso away but LaRusso has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. LaRusso is trying to maintain a safe position but Hunter gets an underhook and turns LaRusso into the cage. LaRusso has Hunter pushed against the cage. Hunter looking for a takedown. LaRusso prevents a takedown attempt there.
A short left from LaRusso. Hunter works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. LaRusso manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. LaRusso slowing the pace effectively.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hunter has hold of one of LaRusso's legs. LaRusso is fighting the takedown attempt but Hunter gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! LaRusso is trying to control the position but Hunter postures up. Hunter loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. LaRusso is trying to keep Hunter in close.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunter postures up in LaRusso's guard and throws a big left but LaRusso blocks it. Hunter missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. LaRusso trying to keep a closed guard but Hunter is proving a slippery customer.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Hunter wants to control from the top but LaRusso keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. LaRusso stuffs the takedown attempt from Hunter. Hunter gets slowly back to his feet. No luck for Hunter with that takedown attempt. Hunter misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Hunter shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts LaRusso as he jumps to the side. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hunter throws a head kick that misses and LaRusso counters with a head kick that drops Hunter to the mat! Hunter scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Johnny LaRusso will probably get the nod. That's time! LaRusso's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Hunter ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. LaRusso tries to move into range but Hunter moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Hunter misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Johnny LaRusso is winning the standup battle so far. Hunter fails with the takedown. Vincent Hunter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. LaRusso scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. LaRusso misses with a kick to the body.
Hunter throws a hook but LaRusso blocks it. Hunter bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of LaRusso's head. LaRusso tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
That's one minute gone in the round. LaRusso misses with a low kick. Hunter misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Hunter uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by LaRusso.

Hunter stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Hunter shoots in looking for a takedown but LaRusso manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hunter's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Hunter scores with a hook to the body. LaRusso takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Hunter misses with a head kick.

LaRusso sprawls well initially but Hunter persists and gets the takedown into half guard. LaRusso is looking for a sweep. Hunter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Hunter is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. LaRusso is staying active underneath Hunter, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

LaRusso uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hunter's guard. Nice move by LaRusso! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hunter is looking for a triangle here but LaRusso uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Hunter closes the distance and clinches up with LaRusso, looking for a takedown. Hunter pushes LaRusso against the cage but LaRusso circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Hunter manages to get an easy takedown there - catching LaRusso on his heels. He'll look to pass LaRusso's guard now, I'm sure. Hunter trying to control the position from guard on top but LaRusso is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hunter throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as LaRusso works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hunter throwing strikes from guard but LaRusso blocks nicely. LaRusso tries to land a sweep but no joy. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Hunter working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Hunter is looking to work some ground and pound but LaRusso has wrist control. Vincent Hunter has got the better of the ground game so far. There's a bit of a scramble here and now LaRusso is on top in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Johnny LaRusso just wasn't active enough. Nice body kick there by Hunter. LaRusso fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hunter.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Vincent Hunter. I think Hunter has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
