The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velez is looking to clinch but Gadzhiev is avoiding it.
Gadzhiev closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Velez to the mat! Velez manages to get full guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Velez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gadzhiev controls the pace.
Velez looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Gadzhiev puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Gadzhiev is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Gadzhiev's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Kamil Gadzhiev.
Gadzhiev shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Velez napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Gadzhiev controls the position from side control.
Gadzhiev wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Velez, who protects the arm well.
Velez bucks up and tries to throw Gadzhiev off but instead Gadzhiev has got his back!

Velez rolls, trying to escape but Gadzhiev keeps control of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gadzhiev has his arm under Velez's chin here. Game over son! Gadzhiev squeezes tightly and Velez is forced to tap out!
