PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rolando Guerrero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Johns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johns is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Just Another Victim. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Shane Johns was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rolando Guerrero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shane Johns!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Columbo Gatti and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johns shoots in for a takedown but Guerrero shows good takedown defense.
Horrible takedown by Johns or perhaps it was just good defense by Guerrero which made him look bad.
The fight stays on the outside here - Guerrero looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Johns changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Guerrero looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Johns wants to lay and pray for a moment but Guerrero keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johns tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Guerrero tries to clinch there but Johns circles away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Johns closes the distance and clinches up with Guerrero, looking for a takedown. Johns pushes Guerrero against the cage but Guerrero circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Guerrero tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Johns is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Guerrero pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Guerrero lands a hook that snaps the head of Johns backwards.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Shane Johns will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Johns tries to close the distance and clinch but Guerrero swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Johns swings around for an armbar but Guerrero sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Johns's guard.

Shane Johns showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Guerrero's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Johns closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Johns lands in his opponent's guard.

Johns stays in close to Guerrero's body and controls the position.

Johns stands and steps away. Guerrero gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Guerrero throws a knee to the head but misses.
Johns tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Guerrero smiles and moves away.
Rolando Guerrero has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Guerrero shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Johns but Johns pushes him off and we're back to square one.

And that's the end of the fight!
Shane Johns comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Johns winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
