PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mitch Rapp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Logan Harter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harter has chosen Stevie Ray Vaughan "Rude Mood" as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 18 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mitch Rapp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Logan Harter!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Lou da Vinci and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harter misses the shot to the body.
Harter throws a lazy uppercut
and Rapp counters with a right hand to the body.
Harter tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rapp defends well and Harter ends up having to push Rapp into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
I was talking to Rapp's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Rapp blocking some punches.
Harter goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rapp prevents it.
Rapp lands a nice elbow from the clinch.


It looks like Logan Harter has been cut.

Harter ducks under a wild hook from Rapp.

Harter fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Rapp to the ground. Harter is now in Rapp's guard.
Harter won't allow Rapp to get back to his feet.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Harter throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rapp works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Rapp is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Rapp wants to stand and escape but Harter is having none of it.

Rapp wants to stand up but Harter is controlling him.

Rapp has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Harter off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Harter drops Rapp with a left right combo! Harter follows him down to the ground into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rapp is trying to get back to half guard.

Harter scores with punches from side control.
Rapp is trying to buck Harter off.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rapp tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Harter wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Harter grinds an elbow into Rapp's temple.
The referee asks Harter politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Harter prefers to stall for the moment though.

Rapp tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Rapp is working hard here to advance position.

Harter thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Rapp regains half guard, as Harter was trying to land strikes.
Rapp is looking to control Harter's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rapp avoid being mounted?
Rapp tries to kick Harter off but Harter keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Rapp wants to get back to full guard.
Rapp trying to hold on to Harter's head to control him but Harter postures up.

Harter seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rapp does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Well, if Harter is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Harter is thwarting Rapp's attempts to control the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Harter drops his hands momentarily and Rapp takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Rapp wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Harter looks for a takedown but Rapp sprawls well.
Rapp tries to clinch up but Harter circles away and keeps his distance.
Harter gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Harter looks to land a left hand but Rapp moved out of range nicely.

Rapp takes a swing at Harter's ribcage but misses.
Rapp steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Harter.

Rapp fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Harter, pushing him back against the cage.

Harter has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Rapp avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Mitch Rapp has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Logan Harter.

Rapp pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Rapp tries to work over Harter's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Harter has picked Rapp up - he's going for a ride! Harter dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Rapp tries to roll over but Harter keeps him under control.

Rapp looks like he's trying to stand up.

Harter wants to pass the guard but Rapp is defending well.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mitch Rapp.
I think Rapp has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
