Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Fenton Meeks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pithe Canthropus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Canthropus has chosen Pizzaman - Trippin' On Sunshine as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
33 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fenton Meeks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
31 - 24 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Pithe Canthropus! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Meeks displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Canthropus throws out the jab. A looping hook to the body misses from Canthropus. Meeks does a little dance to reset his feet. Canthropus throws a good cross that connects.
Meeks misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Canthropus.
Canthropus throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Meeks stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Meeks tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Canthropus manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Meeks swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Meeks is looking to clinch but Canthropus is avoiding it.
A slow jab from Meeks misses its intended target. Canthropus wants to slow Meeks down by chopping away at his legs. Canthropus thumps Meeks with a low kick. Canthropus keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Canthropus takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Canthropus pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Meeks swings widly with a right hand
and Canthropus finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Fenton Meeks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Meeks tries to clinch but Canthropus moves out of range. A combination from Meeks does no damage.

and Canthropus counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Canthropus. A body shot lands from Meeks.
Meeks prevents a body shot from Canthropus. Meeks can't find room to land a body shot as Canthropus controls the action.
Canthropus tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Meeks avoids it. Meeks lands a hook to the side of the head. Canthropus is looking for a takedown. Canthropus missing with knees to the body.
A frustrated look appears on Canthropus's face as he tries to break the clinch. Canthropus is trying to drag Meeks to the mat but Meeks just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Canthropus doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Meeks pushes Canthropus back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Canthropus landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Meeks misses with the head strike.
Meeks blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Canthropus putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Meeks in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Meeks scores with a hook to the body.

Canthropus is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Meeks is defending well for now. Canthropus unloads a knee to the mid-section. Canthropus blocking some punches.

Fenton Meeks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pithe Canthropus. Canthropus misses with a punch to the body.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Meeks. Meeks scores with a nice hook to the head. Meeks scores with an uppercut up the middle. I was talking to Meeks's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Canthropus tries to land knees in the clinch but Meeks avoids the damage to the body. Canthropus scores with a nice hook to the head. Canthropus stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Canthropus lands a hook to the side of the head. Meeks throws an elbow but it misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Canthropus throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Meeks blocks it with crossed arms. A head punch on the inside from Meeks fails to land. Meeks tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Canthropus's elbow. Canthropus blocks a body shot from Meeks. Meeks lands a shoulder strike. Meeks is pressed up against the cage. Canthropus has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Meeks down to the mat. Meeks avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Canthropus shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Meeks as he jumps to the side. Canthropus on the wrong end of a nice hook. Meeks misses with a hook. Canthropus slips a straight right by Meeks. Meeks misses with a jab, cross combination.
Meeks lands a nice hook to Canthropus's body. Canthropus takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Canthropus misses with a few strikes there.
Meeks has managed to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Meeks managing to block the knees to the body from Canthropus.
Both guys are working to get underhooks. Canthropus with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. This has been an exciting period of action! Canthropus blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Canthropus is trying to stall.
Canthropus has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Meeks is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Meeks scores with a nice hook to the head. Canthropus with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Canthropus is looking to control Meeks's arms but Meeks gets an underhook and turns him. Now Canthropus has his back to the cage. Canthropus dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Meeks presses Canthropus against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Meeks is stalling here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Meeks blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Canthropus digs a right hand underneath Meeks's ribcage. Meeks let out a lung full of air as it connected. Meeks lands a right hand that snaps the head of Canthropus backwards. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Pithe Canthropus will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Meeks takes a shot right to the bread basket. Meeks thows a left - swing and a miss! Meeks tries to clinch up but Canthropus circles away and keeps his distance. Meeks is looking to clinch. Canthropus misses with a head kick.

Meeks lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Meeks tries to close the distance and clinch up but Canthropus swats him away and circles back towards the center. Meeks lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Canthropus fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Meeks takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Meeks throws a lazy head kick and Canthropus counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Meeks gets back to full guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Canthropus trying to control the position from guard on top but Meeks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Canthropus trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Canthropus throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Meeks works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Canthropus trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Canthropus preventing the sweep. Canthropus with a flurry of punches that miss. Meeks is looking to stand up but Canthropus isn't so interested in that idea. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Meeks has momentary wrist control but Canthropus slips an elbow through the middle. Canthropus throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Meeks works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Canthropus is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Canthropus scoring with some ground and pound. Meeks is trying to control the position but Canthropus postures up. Canthropus has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Canthropus keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Meeks's head.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Canthropus pushing down on Meeks's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Canthropus missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Meeks is staying active underneath Canthropus, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Meeks on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Meeks keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Canthropus works his foot free and advances to mount. Meeks tries to hold on but Canthropus postures up. Pithe Canthropus has got the better of the ground game so far. Meeks is working to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Canthropus looking to finish Meeks with some ground and pound. This is bad for Meeks! A nice elbow there by Canthropus. Meeks slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Canthropus in particular looking to stall. Canthropus is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Meeks is looking to improve his position.
Canthropus takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Canthropus throwing shots but Meeks is blocking nicely. Canthropus passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Meeks!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Meeks wants to control but Canthropus is having none of it. Meeks is trying desperately to improve position. Meeks is working hard here to advance position. Canthropus looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Canthropus landing strikes from the mount and Meeks is in trouble! Meeks with a body punch. A glancing blow. Fenton Meeks is winning the standup battle so far. Meeks moves in looking to clinch but Canthropus pushes him off. Canthropus swats away the attempt to clinch by Meeks. Meeks jabbing away but nothing is landing. Canthropus thows a body kick. Meeks tries to catch it but that hurt him. Meeks takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Meeks misses with a lunging right hand
and Canthropus counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Meeks throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Canthropus slips a jab from Meeks. Canthropus fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Canthropus slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meeks takes a swing at Canthropus's ribcage but misses. Meeks throws a body punch but Canthropus moves out of range. A telegraphed right hand from Meeks misses the target. Meeks throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Meeks misses with a wild body shot. Meeks looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Canthropus throws a low kick but it's checked well by Meeks. Meeks throws a sloppy head kick and Canthropus counters with a nice double leg into side control. Meeks won't be happy with that. Both fighters are breathing heavily. An elbow from Canthropus crashes against the mat.
Canthropus misses with the ground and pound. Canthropus works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Canthropus sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Meeks is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Canthropus working the ground and pound. Canthropus looks up at the clock and then as Meeks takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Canthropus smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Meeks is working to avoid the ground and pound but Canthropus connects with a decent elbow. Canthropus is looking to take a break and control but Meeks is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Meeks wants to control but Canthropus postures up. Canthropus throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Canthropus lands some shots froms side control. Canthropus scoring with punches from side control. Meeks tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Canthropus wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Canthropus is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Meeks looks calm but he's in trouble here. Canthropus gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Meeks is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Canthropus lets go of the hold and Meeks can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Pithe Canthropus! Pithe Canthropus very nearly forgot to thank DTK Designs (Laundry) amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name.
