The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roads swings away with a body shot that misses
and Pope counters with a head kick. That will keep Roads thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Pope missing with a left hand there. Roads was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Pope cracks Roads with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Pope has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Roads to stand back up!

Roads clobbers Pope with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Pope uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Roads has time to react.

Roads swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Roads moves out of range of the strikes.
Pope moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Roads looks to land a combination but Pope avoids it well.

Damien Roads seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

After the fight, Michael Pope was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
