The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida defending well as Anderson loads up on a big left hand.
Anderson throws a head kick but Machida moves out of range.
Anderson sizes up Machida with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Anderson throws a series of punches but Machida moves out of range.
Maverick Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A jab from Anderson does it's job there.
A jab from Machida misses.
A looping hook to the body misses from Anderson. Machida does a little dance to reset his feet.
Anderson misses with a head kick.
Anderson getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Machida finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
The fighters circling - Anderson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Machida walks straight into a right hand from Anderson - that's dropped him! Anderson jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Machida from any more punishment! Machida complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
