Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kyle Blankenhoff! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cornrow Wallace! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Edson Gomes and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wallace drives through with a takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wallace stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Blankenhoff swivels though and keeps the full guard. Wallace showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Blankenhoff is trying to control the position but Wallace postures up. Wallace trying to control the position from guard on top but Blankenhoff is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Blankenhoff might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Wallace trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Blankenhoff looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Blankenhoff throws a series of punches but Wallace moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Blankenhoff misses with a takedown attempt and Wallace counters with a nice double leg into guard. Wallace must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Blankenhoff throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Blankenhoff tries to land a sweep but no joy. Blankenhoff is trying to keep Wallace in close.
Wallace trying to control the position from guard on top but Blankenhoff is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Blankenhoff pulls Wallace in close to prevent any damage. Blankenhoff striking off his back, scoring a few points.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Blankenhoff is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Blankenhoff working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wallace doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Blankenhoff is tightening it up a little... Wallace has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Wallace reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Wallace taps out! nice BJJ there by Blankenhoff!
